As I listened to this story, I felt compelled to reflect on my mortality. Her quest is to find a wife to take care of her husband Jack after she's gone. Daisy, a beautiful young woman, is given the news her cancer is back, and she may only have a few months to live. Overall, Before I Go is a simple yet beautiful and tear-jerking read.PBR Book Review:I listened to this book on Audio, and I wanted to discuss it with someone after the first chapter. I remembered clutching my chest as I tried to breathe from the pain. Like I said, this book made me cry in the middle of the night. I think this worked really well because it created the right amount of angst and drama.

The readers only get Daisy’s perspective in the story so we only see what she is seeing. I think the first few chapters are slow but it is made that way in order for the readers to get to know more about the two characters. The premise of the book really hooked me, with Daisy trying to find Jack a perfect match before her doomed fate. I appreciate reading the ups and downs of their relationship. Their relationship is not shown as a sappy romance but as a true relationship between husband and wife. Jack, her husband, also has a lot of flaws. I love how the characters are portrayed realistically. I have a family member who had cancer so I personally know the feeling that comes with it-fear, sorrow, despair. I remember crying (more like sobbing) while reading this book back in 2016. As the thought of her husband with another woman becomes all too real, Daisy’s forced to decide what’s more important in the short amount of time she has left: her husband’s happiness-or her own? But the further she gets on her quest, the more she questions the sanity of her plan. With a singular determination, Daisy scouts local parks and coffee shops and online dating sites looking for Jack’s perfect match. It’s this fear that keeps her up at night, until she stumbles on the solution: she has to find him another wife.
